Book Tour to Northern Michigan

An author’s job consists of, among other things, book signing tours. I just returned from five days in northern Michigan—very much a tourist area in the summer—to promote Barbour’s Mackinac Island anthology and also my older book, Michigan. While there, I had the opportunity to tell readers and booksellers about my Steeple Hill Love Inspired November release, With Christmas In His Heart which is set on Mackinac Island over Christmas.

A passenger ferry takes visitors to the island from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. I love the St. Ignace view best which crosses in front of the lovely victorian mansions and the Grand Hotel—the most famous landmark on the island besides the fort.

My first book signing took place on Mackinac Island. We had a nice turn out and a nice surprise was to meet Kay Hoppenrath, a year round resident, who helped me with realistic details of my November book, With Christmas In His Heart. Kay lives across the street from the Cottage Inn Bed and Breakfast where we stayed. Here’s a photo of Kay at my book signing at Island Bookstore and a photo of me in front of the B & B.

Virginia and her husband who manages the B & B gave me the recipe for their Creamy Egg Casserole that he cooked for our breakfast on Sunday morning. It was delicious and I’m going to include the recipe in Gail’s Kitchen section of my web site at www.gailmartin.com
