Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls

Bob’s Aunt Florence was a wonderful woman and Italian to the core. She welcomed everyone into her home, lavishing them with food even if they’d just eaten. At Christmas, she always made peanut butter balls, and when I found this recipe, I thought of her. Who doesn’tlike chocolate or peanut butter? And when you put them together, you have a luscious melt-in-your-mouth treat, perfect for the Christmas holiday or any time of year. They keep well so make a big batch.
1 lb Confectioner’s sugar
1 lb Smooth peanut butter
1 c Margarine
12 oz Chocolate chips
2 tb vegetable shortening
Cream margarine and sugar. Add peanut butter. Mix well. Roll into 1 inch balls. Chill 1 hour. Melt choc. & vegetable shortening in top of double boiler. With a fork roll balls (one at a time) in choc. mixture. Let drip a few seconds and then put on waxed paper to dry. When completely dry put in airtight container.
