Novel Proposals That Didn’t Sell

TreasuresofherHeart LD Although you love a story idea and can’t believe your editor will pass on it, sometimes it happens. This novel was one of them. I had called it a different name, but today Treasures of Her Heart will be available very soon. We all have them, and I will admit some of the first might want to stay under the bed collecting dust bunnies, but most novelists have a few that are worthy of becoming novels for their readers.

When I was a new writer, I learned to face that certain publishers like certain kinds of novels, one’s they’re confident their readership will buy. It’s easy to forget that publishers are in business to make money. Yet, we know it’s true in the same way we want to sell our novels so they will entertain readers and often touch them in some way, but also every novelist wants to make money.

The novels I wrote, all traditionally published, needed a story that moved forward with  a romance introduced on the first couple of pages. These novels are shorter and are part of a specific line rather than single titles. So many of the novels I wrote before selling my first novel and some that I proposed that never sold remained in my computer longing to be free.

With new opportunities opening with the improvement of Independent Publishing, many traditionally published authors, learned that those stories can come to life. They have become Hybrid by writing traditionally but also become an Indie novelist by self-publishing their work. A great part of about being a Hybrid is these writers already have a readership who like your books, look for them in the stores, and want to read more.

So this is what I decided to do with all those stories I had written years ago. Yet it is not without work.  One problem is I had grown as  a writer. I continue to hone my craft, learn new and better writing techniques,  hage developed a strong voice. This means reworking and rewriting to bring the novel up to the quality I would want my readers to read.

Treasures of  The Heart is a novel I loved. The characters have stood out in my mind over the years and I’m thrilled to share this with readers.

The book will be available as an eBook and and is now on Special Pre-Release Sale as a  paperback.

Hi, last week my husband asked me what I was going to do with the stories nobody has been interested in. I’m unpublished, and my list is growing. I’m so glad you shared this with us.

    Have a great day!

Great. Make sure you rework it up to your present quality of writing. You want it to be your best. I even through out scenes and added new ones. Work but it’s now out for the world to read and I’m thrilled.

I just happened to spot “Treasures of Her Heart” listed on The Christian Book Club on Facebook. I’m a reviewer, and am constantly on the lookout for interesting books to read. I saw “Northern Michigan” in your description of the book. and bling! I’m a West Michigan resident and a big promoter of Michigan authors. I’m really looking forward to reading your novels based in my home state. I’m so happy that I discovered you and your wonderful books! Now I’ll need to get busy looking for your books!

Amazon is the best place. You’ll find links for most of them if you go to Books/Novel and Books/backlist. The link will take you right to Amazon with the blurbs, any comments or reveiws and also some offer the opportunity to read the first chapter or two.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and all. But imagine if you added some great visuals
or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent
but with images and videos, this blog could definitely be one of the most beneficial in its niche.
    Terrific blog!
